The
company that owns and manages Porto Alto is called Portela & Portela Lda,
the family office of Álvaro Portela, its founder, a professional manager whose
executive activity, which ended back in 2010, was developed, in the last 30
years of his career, at Grupo Sonae, mainly in the shopping centre business.
The Porto Alto was developed within the perimeter where Laboratórios Bial developed its activity during the second half of the last century. Laboratórios Bial is a company founded by Comendador Alvaro Portela, the grandfather of the Portela & Portela Lda founder and present CEO, and is nowadays the most important Portuguese pharmaceutical company.
